The second installment of Reel Nights featured a screening of Overcome Beloved Directed by Nthabiseng Mosieane AND a curated panel discussion for aspiring actors and audiences titled “Landing the role.”
This panel discussion featured industry experts: Casting director John Otto, Actress and lead, Noxolo Dlamini and talent agent rep Nontobeko Mazibuko. These incredible creatives shared what it takes to land a Film and Television role with our live audience, from navigating auditions, self tapes, character development, landing an agent and more.
About The Film Overcome Beloved
Nomhle, an abused wife and mother has found temporary refuge with her teenage daughter Nandi in the safe house of Bab’Somandla, on the run from her abusive husband. In this home Nomhle lives in the present while her mind is stuck in the past. She is unable to reconnect with her daughter and delays their progress to living a life free from fear.
About The Director Nthabiseng Mosieane
Nthabiseng Mosieane is a South African Female scriptwriter and director and holds a post-graduate diploma in Picture Production from the Tshwane University Of Technology. Nthabiseng has written and directed her debut 2021 short film ‘Overcome Beloved’, a piece dedicated to Gender Based Violence survivors that plagues South Africa. The film was made possible by the National Film And Video Foundation; Emerging Female Filmmaker Programme in partnership with the South African Broadcasting Commission. Since the premiere of her short film, Nthabiseng became a finalist at the Writers Guild Of South Africa Muse Awards, with ‘Overcome Beloved’ receiving a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Writing amongst other proud accolades.
