Okuhle Dyosopu
Okuhle Dyosopu is a film enthusiast, particularly in documentary film making. Film for her is necessary to inform generations after generations their history, the genesis of their people, their wins their failure so we get to carve progressive identities that grow and become better each ere. She is invested in the stories of young South Africans because they are the solutions but they are also the most neglected in the country. Over the years she has developed a process to unearth hidden stories of young people, through bringing a fresh and thought-provoking form of directing to the film Industry. She has directed and written a six part documentary series commissioned by the National Broadcaster SABC 1 titled Youth Culture. She has written and directed a short doccie for Mo Films a Uk based advertising agency titled Hidden Queens which was selected by the International Encounters Documentary Film Festival which received a special acknowledgement for the short film eye award and then it was broadcast on the discovery channel. Okuhle Dyosopu has received funding for independent films by the National Film and Video Foundation and is currently in post production for a indie series called Instomi Ya La Cherrie (Story of that Girl). Okuhle Dyosopu has also been chosen for two international residencies, one by the Germany Dok Festival Munich and for Japan Nara film festival with UNESCO. Okuhle hopes to continue the work she does in the aims to open up the industry to more young diverse storytellers. She accomplishes this by ensuring she makes films in her home town and create jobs for young creatives who otherwise have no access to opportunities to work in the industry and gain
