‘Hidden Queens’, by South African director Okuhle Dyosopu, is a short documentary which shines a light on an ‘invisible’ generation of women working tirelessly as domestic workers – the backbone of South Africa.This short documentary is imparted with compassion and focuses on the personal story of Thandokazi. Through an honest dialogue, Thandokazi gives the viewer insight on how it truly feels to leave your home, and your high repute amongst your family and community, to play the role of a “well behaved”, submissive domestic worker named Patricia.
